Osborne joins the SUNS

The Gold Coast SUNS have recruited Leigh Osborne with the second selection in Tuesday’s Rookie Draft.

The 186cm half-back has come from the clouds, or at least East Ringwood in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, to become one of the most highly rated VFL players.

Osborne, 22-years-old, has a sharp burst of speed and a long left-foot kick, making him a classic 80m run-and-carry player.

Osborne arrived on the Gold Coast two weeks ago, after he missed on on being selected in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft.

He has been training with the team in the hope of claiming a rookie spot.

Osborne watched the rookie draft unfold with GC SUNS Senior Coach Guy McKenna and General Manager Football Operations Marcus Ashcroft.
