GC SUNS unveil fresh leaders

January 29, 2014 11:20 AM

New Trio In Leadership Group GC SUNS captain Gary Ablett discusses the new additions to the leadership group for season 2014.
We have been really pleased with the way our playing group has evolved throughout our establishment.

The continued emergence of the Gold Coast SUNS young brigade have taken a significant step forward with Tom Lynch, Dion Prestia and David Swallow all earning positions in the GC SUNS six man leadership group in 2014.

Lynch, Prestia and Swallow will join Gary Ablett, Nathan Bock and Michael Rischitelli in the player leadership group.

For the fourth consecutive year Ablett will enter the season as Captain, with Bock, Lynch, Prestia, Rischitelli and Swallow all being named as Vice Captain’s.

GC SUNS Senior Coach, Guy McKenna said the players selected represented a true reflection of the playing group’s on-going growth.

“We have been really pleased with the way our playing group has evolved throughout our establishment.

“Our experienced guys, like Gary, Nathan and Michael, have had a huge task in not just establishing and growing our club but also our players, and for us now to be in a position to elevate some of our inaugural season debutants into the leadership group can be attributed to their great work,” McKenna said.

McKenna said Lynch, Prestia and Swallow were ready to take on their new leadership roles.

“Tom, Dion and David have earned their positions in our leadership group, throughout their time with the club they have demonstrated that they have the capabilities of taking this club forward both on and off the field.

“We have a number of players continuing to develop their leadership qualities and I have no doubt that the boys elevated today will be joined by a number of their peers in the seasons to come,” McKenna said.

The GC SUNS 2014 leadership group was selected by the playing group in consultation with coaching staff and administration.
