Gary Ablett might have stolen the show in Gold Coast’s winning QClash 7 match, but it was Sean Lemmens and Kade Kolodjashnij’s first AFL goals that sent Metricon Stadium into a frenzy.

The first-year guns brought the house down with their sensational maiden majors, with Lemmens’ effort set to last long in the memory bank after a brilliant piece of work before he goaled from just inside 50 in the third quarter.

AFL fans from across the country flooded the club’s Twitter broadcast, with tweeters dubbing the South Australian teenager “The Candy Man”, after an unbelievable side-step on Sam Mayes that would have had Karmichael Hunt in the grandstand grinning from ear to ear.

It was the icing on the cake for Gold Coast in the third quarter, after the home side surged away with a seven-goal haul in the premiership term.

Kolodjashnij backed up his fellow draftee’s effort moments later, with an impressive major of his own.

Lemmens was still on a high from his team’s performance when he spoke exclusively with SUNS TV post-match.

“Yeah, it was awesome,” Lemmens quipped

“The boys got around me and it was a great feeling.”

Lemmens has enjoyed a terrific start to his AFL career, with Gold Coast having won both home matches against Richmond and Brisbane this season.

“It was awesome footy by the boys. Coming in to the game I thought we had something to prove.

“Our intent and hardness at the footy was awesome tonight.

“Hopefully we can build on our efforts and take it in to our match against Hawthorn next week.”
