Medium-sized defender Jeremy Taylor has rocketed in to Guy McKenna’s round five calculations after a stand-out performance for the NEAFL SUNS on Saturday afternoon.

The half-back flanker was outstanding in a side mainly filled with Academy-listed players.

He pushed into the midfield for much of the match and was a massive boost around the stoppages for Josh Fraser; the lively utility picking up a team-high 33 disposals, six marks, four inside-50s and three clearances.

With Clay Cameron expected to be sidelined through to injury, and Seb Tape’s return to AFL football still on ice, Taylor’s consistent form in the reserve’s grade is gaining the 21-year-old momentum for a senior call-up against Melbourne.

If selected, it would be his 11th senior selection and first AFL appearance since round 23 of 2012, after a series of concussions and a serious finger injury ravaged his chances last season of adding to his career games tally.

Meanwhile, Nathan Bock’s senior return has been lifted after the Vice-Captain completed his first full game for the season.

The 2008 All Australian started at Full Forward but was quickly thrown down back after the Thunder’s constant supply in attack put the NEAFL SUNS’ backline under siege, where he made an immediate impact.

He notched 19 disposals as the team’s last line of defence.
