It was a hard-fought victory at the MCG on Sunday afternoon with the GC SUNS defeating Melbourne by eight points.

Gary Ablett continued his stellar start to 2014 with another brilliant performance that is likely to see him awarded the maximum three Brownlow votes. The skipper had 32 disposals, a whopping 17 of which were contested possessions. In addition to that, Ablett kicked two crucial goals and had eight clearances.

Greg Broughton had his best game of the season with 25 possessions, nine marks and a booming goal in the last quarter that sealed the game for the SUNS while rookie Kade Kolodjashnij showed his star is on the rise with a polished performance that saw him collect 19 disposals at an 89.5% efficiency rate.

Tall forwards Tom Lynch and Sam Day both plucked four marks inside the forward 50 and kicked a couple of goals a piece while midfielders Michael Rischitelli (25 disposals) and Dion Prestia (22 disposals) had plenty of the ball for the SUNS.
