Gold Coast SUNS reserves coach Josh Fraser said Jeremy Taylor’s “time will come” in the senior team following a series of standout performances at NEAFL level so far this season.

His understrength side was no match for the Sydney Swans’ reserves at the weekend, but Taylor could again hold his head high after emerging from the contest with his reputation enhanced after another stellar effort.

GC SUNS reserves coach, Josh Fraser, said Taylor is performing at a consistent enough level to earn a recall to the AFL squad.

“I think he just needs to keep performing well; it’s probably not one single thing he could work on or be better at, he just needs to be consistent and he has been just that,” Fraser said.

The 21-year-old continues to impress under the tutelage of the 1999. No. 1 draft pick, and he has been on the brink of the top 22 on a number of occasions already this season, including the Fremantle match where he travelled as the emergency.

According to Fraser, the challenge now is to make sure Taylor is ready to make the most of his opportunity when a senior call-up comes.

“It’s just about opportunities and making sure that when his opportunities come he is ready to go.

“I have a heap of admiration for Jeremy.  He has been in this position before but he doesn’t change the way he goes about his footy, he continues to lead by example and his efforts are always strong.

“His time will come and when it does he will acquit himself very well.”
