Gold Coast forward Timmy Sumner is the only change to the SUNS’ 22 following the club’s scrappy win over Melbourne, with the livewire named to play against Greater Western Sydney at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.

Sumner’s senior recall will boost the confidence of the exciting speedster, who comes in to the team for Matthew Warnock.

Explosive, fearless and as unpredictable as they come, Sumner adds a real “X-factor” to the SUNS’ forward line.

General Manager - Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft, told goldcoastfc.com.au Sumner’s consistent performances in the reserves team warranted another opportunity on the big stage.

“Timmy earns his promotion to the senior team after some solid performances in the NEAFL squad,” Ashcroft said.

“We’ve been really excited in the way Timmy played last season and in the early rounds this year, and he comes into the side to do all the things we know he can do.

“He also provides an X-factor to the team and hopefully he can add to the talent we already have in the team.”

In his debut season last year, Sumner managed 11 senior matches and he missed just two games after the mid-season break.

His goal-kicking prowess was on full display in the side’s round 20 victory against Melbourne where he kicked a career-high three goals.

Veterans Warnock and Tom Murphy have been named as emergencies along with hard-running utility Jeremy Taylor.
