It’ll be SUN v SUN at Saturday’s Gold Coast AFL Open Day as the Gold Coast SUNS playing list goes head to head in an intraclub match.

Saturday morning will provide a final opportunity for players to impress coach Rodney Eade before next week’s opening NAB Challenge game and there will be enthralling match-ups right across the field.

Veteran defender Nick Malceski and 2015 club champion runner-up Kade Kolodjashnij will provide rebound from one end of the ground, but will be tasked with shutting down a very dangerous duo consisting of 2015 No. 8 draft pick Callum Ah Chee and Jarrod Garlett.

Another contest worth keeping a close eye on will be the ruck battle between Tom Nicholls and recruit Dan Currie, as the former Kangaroo pushes his case to be a part of Gold Coast’s round one side to take on Essendon on March 26. Emerging talls Peter Wright and Jack Leslie will also do battle inside the arc.

The intraclub match will consist of four 20-minute quarters with kick-to-kick happening on-field post game. There will also be opportunities for autographs and photos from 11am.

Attendance on Saturday is free with entry via Gate 6.
