There have been 2,406 long days since Ryan Davis’ last AFL premiership season appearance, which came in Round 21, 2009 for the West Coast Eagles against Adelaide.

The 26-year-old now has the opportunity to reignite his career at the top level with the Gold Coast rookie earning an elevation to the club’s senior list.

On Thursday morning, coach Rodney Eade broke the news to Davis he’ll make his first appearance for the SUNS against Essendon this Saturday.

“I’m over the moon. Finally get a second chance, it’s been a long six years so looking forward to getting another crack at it,” Davis told SUNS TV.

The focus on Saturday is simple for the former Eagle; bring the effort and look to impact the scoreboard if the opportunity arises.

“Just the intensity, tackle pressure and hopefully get a couple of snaggers for the boys as well,” Davis said.

Taken with the No. 38 selection in last year’s rookie draft, Davis was a solid contributor during the club’s NAB Challenge campaign, kicking four goals in three games.
