Gold Coast has made three changes to their side for Saturday’s game at the Gabba, with the welcome inclusion of captain Steven May.

He has been named in the back pocket after recovering from an infected finger, with fellow key defender Jack Leslie also lining up in the side to take on Melbourne.

The third change for the SUNS is experienced midfielder Aaron Hall, who returns for his first game since round four.

Senior coach Stuart Dew says the two latter inclusions are based on form and attitude.

“Jack has had really solid form in the NEAFL, so he’s earnt his spot,” Dew told goldcoastfc.com.au.

“Hally went back to work on some things and we’ve really seen a good shift in all his play.

“He’s handled his role the last few weeks exceptionally well with his attitude and his approach.”

Jesse Joyce and Matt Rosa haven’t been able to get up for the game, with both ruled out with injuries.

The defender pulled up sore after the game against the Dogs, having suffered multiple knocks to his quad.

“Joycey got a knock early in the game, which was unfortunately on a knock that he got the previous week.

“He wasn’t able to train, and we wanted to make sure everyone was 100% so he’ll miss this week.”

Rosa received treatment for a shoulder injury last week but returned to play out the game.

He was unable to participate in the SUNS’ main training session this week and a conservative approach has been taken with the wingman.

“We could have left it for a test towards the end of the week, but we felt we wanted to settle the side early in the week.

“We envisage it will be a one-week thing.”

After playing the last two games against Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs, defender Max Spencer has been omitted.

He is named as an emergency alongside midfielder Will Brodie and SUNS Academy products Jacob Heron and Connor Nutting.
