Gold Coast SUN, Jacob Gillbee headed back to his junior club, helping run a clinic with players from the Lauderdale Football Club.

Gillbee, who was back in the Tassie capital for the Christmas break said he was happy to help his junior club.

“It was a fantastic day for the kids, it was great to see a bit of support for the SUNS as well.”

“People in Tassie love their footy, and with so many of us here at the Gold Coast originally coming from Tassie it great to give a little bit back as such a special time of the year” Gillbee said.

Gilbee was joined at the clinic by former Lauderdale and current AFL players Andrew Phillips (Giants), Sam Siggins (Crows) & Mitch Robinson (Carlton).

On returning to the Gold Coast, Gillbee and his fellow Tasmanians said their thoughts were with the people of Tasmania currently affected by the devastating bushfires, with Gillbee admitting that he and his teammates had spoken at length about the fires.

“Everyone down there is certainly in our thoughts, we all have friends or family who live or holiday in the affected areas and its just devastating.

“What I do know is that Tasmanians are pretty strong and I am sure we will bounce back pretty quickly, however at the moment we can only offer our sympathy to those who have lost their homes or livelihoods in the fires and thank the firefighters, volunteers and other emergency services staff,”  Gillbee said.
