Before catching the eye of the GC SUNS Talent Academy, Hall was a former high-jump sensation – falling just 2cm short of qualifying for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Amazingly, the North Queensland product had not picked up a sherrin until he was 20 years old.
Since his defection to the AFL in 2011, Hall has been on an accelerated development program in the NEAFL, before making his AFL debut in the club’s memorable win over Richmond in Cairns last year.
Hall spoke exclusively with goldcoastfc.com.au, saying he’s confident the GC SUNS gruelling pre-season will transform more on-field success for him in the 2013 AFL premiership season.
“I’ve had a great pre-season so far, travelling with the team to the club’s annual Arizona camp for the first time.
“I’ve come back bigger, stronger and fitter this season, so hopefully I can implement some of the skills that I’ve development over the pre-season and trial them against quality opposition.”
The hometown star says he’s been working extra hard to fight for senior selection, ahead of the GC SUNS hit out against North Melbourne in Townsville on Saturday March 2.
“I couldn’t sleep the night I heard the boys would be travelling up to North Queensland… and I’ve been over the moon ever since.”
“It means everything to me to hear that the club was heading to Townsville for the NAB Cup clash against the Kangaroos.
“Hopefully in the near future Townsville will be able to host an AFL game during the premiership season.”
