The Gold Coast SUNS will make a call later in the week as to whether Charlie Dixon will play in Saturday night’s match against Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium.

Scans of Dixon’s achilles revealed a minor strain, but the GC SUNS will give the inform Dixon every opportunity to play this weekend.  

Meanwhile skipper Gary Ablett says he’ll be ready to fire against his former mentor Ken Hinkley and his in-form Port Adelaide charges at Metricon Stadium this Saturday night, after an MRI scan revealed no damage in his bruised right hand last night.

The 235-game superstar experienced pain and soreness in his hand after he side’s thrilling 2-point loss to the Brisbane Lions last Saturday, however scans yesterday cleared Ablett of any damage.

Ablett said he'll be fine to take on the Power.

"I'll be ready to go this weekend," Ablett said, as he was announced as the new AFL Queensland ambassador for community football.

"I've got to get through training Wednesday night but the hand's not feeling too bad. I can't really clench it yet but I'm sure it'll be fine for the weekend."

Tom Murphy and Dion Prestia will also have to overcome fitness tests abut are expected to start in the back-six against the Power this Saturday night, after being missing last week due to injury.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Taylor will be forced to watch on from the sidelines this week after suffering his third concussion for the season, with no expected timeframe set for his return.
