Karmichael Hunt’s transition to playing AFL football is an achievement Gold Coast captain Gary Ablett feels may never happen again, with his professionalism, supreme work ethic and athletic ability to leave a lasting legacy on the holiday strip.

“From day one he has been one of the hardest workers at the club,” Ablett said.

“He has had a few injuries that have not allowed him to play the amount of games he would have liked, but he was always in our best 25 and if he wasn’t playing he was just missing out.

“It really is a great effort.”

The tri-code pioneer has been nothing short of outstanding throughout his four-year stint in the AFL according to the game’s best player.

“There are too many guys that could have transitioned from rugby to AFL, and if you went the other way as well, I don’t think there is too many guys who could transition from AFL to rugby either.

“He has had to learn a whole different skill set and he has done a fantastic job coming across and working on those things and playing the 44 games he did.

“He has been fantastic, not just on the field but around the club; the work he has done in the community and helping grow the game of AFL football.”
