#10 – Brandon Matera vs Adelaide Crows

One of the team goals of the season came against the Adelaide Crows in round 11. Michael Rischitelli bombed a high ball forward to a one-on-one contest involving Sam Day and Andy Otten. Rather than attempt to take the mark, Day palmed the ball down to Brandon Matera who had found open space to gather the footy and snap the goal around the corner to bring the GC SUNS to within seven points at the time.

#9 – Jaeger O’Meara vs Western Bulldogs

Jaeger O'Meara showed his class in round 17 against the Bulldogs, attacking and gathering the ball at speed before slamming it onto his boot 55 metres out from goal into a stiff breeze. The Sherrin bounced in the open goal square and through the big sticks for the fourth goal of the quarter for the SUNS.

#5 – David Swallow v Brisbane Lions

A series of slick handballs from Dion Prestia, Gary Ablett and Luke Russell saw David Swallow gain possession of the football on the 50-metre mark in the right-forward pocket.

After a long kick into the forward line, the ball came off a pack and into the hands of Gary Ablett, who was 20 metres from goal at the time.

#1 – Harley Bennell v Port Adelaide

With 4:28 left on the clock and the GC SUNS trailing by nine points, Gold Coast needed something special from a stoppage 25 metres out from goal.

The chain began with David Swallow leaping as the third man up in the ruck contest, belting the ball forward and towards the boundary line.

Harley Bennell led the chase, ahead of Power players Kane Cornes and Tom Jonas, and gathered the ball near the boundary. The number 11 took a few steps and with Cornes hot on his heels, slammed the ball onto his left boot on a near-impossible angle.

The Sherrin curled around perfectly and carried over the goal line between the big sticks to bring the GC SUNS back within three points, despite a desperate attempt from Justin Westhoff to prevent it.
