With the SUNS suffering their first defeat of 2016 at the hands of their Queensland rivals, the Brisbane Lions, there’s not a whole lot to write home about after the round four loss.
Tom Lynch was one of a handful of contributors, kicking five goals in a lone hand up forward to maintain his lead in the Coleman Medal race. The key forward has booted 18 goals in four games and was clearly Gold Coast’s best player on Saturday.
In the midfield, Aaron Hall (26 disposals) and Gary Ablett (24) battled hard but couldn’t gain the ascendancy over the Lions engine room while Sam Day, Nick Malceski and Alex Sexton all performed their roles.
