Metricon Stadium will be raining pink confetti in less than 24 hours as local Pokemon trainers eagerly look to expand their Pokedex and finally catch ‘em all.

Pokemon GO became an instant, worldwide phenomenon upon release and has those young and old fervently throwing Pokeballs at the elusive digital creatures.

From 12:15PM on Saturday the Metricon Stadium PokeStop will be a hub for Pikachu and co. with Lures activated until centre bounce.

SUNS Chief Operating Officer, Paul Pamenter, said Metricon Stadium would bring the best of the digital and football worlds together come Saturday.

“It’s a really exciting opportunity to be able to capitalise on the Pokemon Go phenomenon,” he told SUNS TV.

“Obviously we’ve got our free Wi-Fi here at Metricon Stadium as well, so we’ll set some Lures off two hours prior to the game starting.

“It’s a really good opportunity for everyone to come along early, gather their Pokemon, before watching the SUNS play.”

Lures will also be activated at half-time and again for 30 minutes post-match.

Pokemon trainers with a creative streak also have the opportunity to win a signed 2016 guernsey. Simply use the #PokemonGoAtMetricon hashtag to upload a screenshot of your best Pokemon capture at the stadium to Instagram and Twitter for your chance to win.
