Eddie Sansbury will join the Gold Coast SUNS as the club strengthens its commitment to developing its players off the field.

Sansbury has been appointed the role of Indigenous Liaison Officer, a new role within the club's Player Development Team.

The role will see Sansbury responsible for nurturing and strengthening the personal wellbeing and professional development of the teams Indigenous players.

GC SUNS Player Development Manager, Michelle Mitchell OAM, welcomed Sansbury to the role.

"We are thrilled that someone of Eddie's experience will join our team," Mrs Mitchell said.

"The position will ensure all Indigenous players have the tools and support required to lead healthy and successful lives during and after their AFL careers.

"Eddie will also work closely with the club’s Community department to support club-wide Indigenous initiatives and programs."

Sansbury, who had a five year AFL playing career with the North Melbourne Football Club, joins the club from AFL Queensland where he was responsible for the delivery of all Diversity Talent Programs. Prior to joining AFL Queensland Sansbury was an Indigenous Mentoring Field Officer for AFL Sports Ready.

Sansbury role with the Suns will commence on Tuesday 1st November.
