David Swallow will make his return to senior football this Sunday in the SUNS’ JLT Community Series game against the Brisbane Lions at Kombumerri Park.

The 2014 Club Champion did not play a senior game in 2016 due to an on-going knee injury, but has been named in the SUNS’ extended 29-man squad after a successful pre-season.

A total of six new SUNS could pull on the red and gold come Sunday, with former Lion Pearce Hanley poised to face his old team after a move down the M1 in the AFL NAB Trade Period.

Michael Barlow, Jarrod Witts, Ben Ainsworth, Jack Bowes and Will Brodie have also been included in the SUNS 29-man squad for the first time, each vying to make their mark and cement a place in Rodney Eade’s best 22 for round 1.

The 29-man squad will be trimmed to 26 prior to the game on Sunday.

Sunday’s match at the Broadbeach Sports Club will also mark the first occasion Tom Lynch and Steven May have lead their players out as official captains.
