Former Port Adelaide midfielder Aaron Young joined the Gold Coast SUNS as part of the NAB AFL Trade Period on Thursday.

The 24-year old was originally drafted by Port Adelaide at pick 36 in the 2010 NAB National Draft, and comes to the Gold Coast as a ready made midfielder who has a nous for finding the big sticks with his right boot.

Throughout his early years at Alberton, the Eastern Rangers product’s shaggy long hair and ever-growing beard, combined with his prolific ball-winning skills, saw him quickly become a fan favourite.

Dangerous in attack, Young played in 13 AFL games in 2017, taking his overall career tally to 76.

With 62 career goals under his belt (he finished second to Chad Wingard as leading goal kicker in 2016), Young will be looking to make his mark not only as a dynamic and enticing running midfielder, but as a key option up forward for years to come.
