Aaron Young had a debut to remember on Saturday night, recording a victory and kicking his first goal in Gold Coast colours.

The 25-year-old collected 26 disposals, including 12 contested possessions, to help will the SUNS over line against North Melbourne.

Since arriving at the club in October’s trade period, Young has spent the past few months working hard on the training track and integrating into a new club environment.

That hard work made the win all the sweeter.

“It was really good to get the win with the boys, we’ve put in a lot of hard work over the pre-season and we got the rewards tonight,” Young told SUNS TV after the game.

“It was a bit of a roller coaster game and we went into that last quarter having to win the quarter.

“We managed to do that and yeah, we came away with the victory.”

In trying conditions, the comradery and fight from the players showed how close the group is.

Young has felt welcome to the club from day one and, based off his performances so far, is thriving in his role as a forward that rotates through the midfield.

“I’ve felt at home for the last few months here and again out there, I felt at home.

“It’s such a tight-knit group at the moment and it showed out there today.”
