Jarrod Witts was the only SUN to receive Coaches votes towards the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award in Round 9.

Throughout the Shanghai match Witts shone not only for his strong performance against Port Adelaide ruckman, Paddy Ryder, but for his around the ground efforts as well.

Witts polled 3 votes with 43 hit-outs, 12 clearances, 22 disposals and a goal.

Sam Powell-Pepper from Port received 9 votes from the coaches for his dominate performance. 

After Round 9, Fremantle’s Nat Fyffe is on top of the leaderboard with 48 votes, ahead of Jack Darling and Max Gawn.
