On Saturday night Jarrod Harbrow will become the first Gold Coast player to achieve 150 club games since the SUNS entered the AFL competition in 2011.

The Board of the SUNS on Thursday ratified that Harbrow would become the first player to be awarded Life Membership of the club at the Club Champion event at the end of the season.

GC SUNS Chairman Tony Cochrane informed players and staff of the Board’s decision at the club on Friday morning.

“It is a really special occasion for the Gold Coast Football Club,” Cochrane said.

“For the very first time, a player this weekend, is going to become a life member of the club… and quite frankly it couldn’t have gone to a greater clubman, this guy optimises everything about our club.

“(His) inspiration to particularly the Indigenous players, but to the whole of the club is really to be admired.”

Harbrow was the first Gold Coast player to reach 100 games for the club and has only missed five games since reaching that milestone.

The 30-year-old is arguably enjoying a career-best season in 2018 where he is averaging 20 disposals and four marks per game in the backline.

“For me it’s about have I been able to make an impact on the footy club,” Harbrow told the media on Friday.

“That’s probably what I value highly as well, have I been able to build good relationships and make this a good place for people coming into it.

“It’s humbling, something that I’ll certainly look back on and be pretty proud of.”

Harbrow joins inaugural GC SUNS Chairman John Witheriff and fellow Director Bob Gordon as Life Members of the Gold Coast SUNS.
