UPDATE 18.6.17
We can confirm Michael Barlow has fractured his fibula. The club will provide a further update following his surgery.

Michael Barlow
suffered a heart wrenching injury during the fourth quarter of the Gold Coast SUNS’ match against Carlton at Metricon Stadium.

He was stretchered off by SUNS medical staff and taken for immediate assessment.

General Manager - Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft, told Channel 7 the news is not looking positive for Barlow.

“It’s the same leg he injured a while back, he already had a bad break,” Ashcroft told Channel 7 post-match.

“He’s fractured it, not sure if it’s one bone or both bones.

“He’ll go into hospital tonight and have surgery tomorrow.”

Although the initial prognosis won’t be determind until after surgery, Ashcroft said the club expected the worst as far as Barlow’s return.

“At this stage, looks likely he’ll miss the rest of the season,” he said.

“He’s been fantastic for us this year, his on field performance and also his leadership.”

“A disappointing night all round.”
