For the fifth consecutive year, Metricon Stadium will alter from its usual match-day operations and into a one-stop shop for those impacted by homelessness across the Gold Coast when Homeless Connect returns to the city’s home of football on Wednesday August 2.

Homeless Connect, now into its tenth year, allows Gold Coasters who are homeless or those at risk of becoming homeless to get in touch with a variety of community services, including health and wellbeing, legal advice and counselling.

Those attending will also have the opportunity to enjoy haircuts, manicures and other essential services.

This event is an initiative of the Gold Coast Homelessness Network and is proudly supported by the Gold Coast Community Fund, Gold Coast SUNS, Partners in Recovery Gold Coast, Horizon Housing, Surfside Buslines, City of Gold Coast, Queensland Government, O’Brien Group Australia, Metricon Stadium, and 91.7 ABC Gold Coast.

The Homeless Connect event continues to be an important annual fixture for the GC SUNS’ community calendar according to the club’s chief executive officer, Mark Evans, who can only see the event going from strength to strength in the years to come.

“Metricon Stadium is a community asset for the Gold Coast, so it only makes sense for our football club to open its doors and do what we can to support our city’s neediest people,” Evans said.

“It’s our eighth year supporting the Homeless Connect, and the fifth consecutive year the event has been hosted at Metricon Stadium.

“We’ve been on record, declaring our commitment to tackling the issue of youth homelessness in our city and we won’t waiver in our approach to investing heavily in this space,

The club will continue to embrace our role as community leaders, driving positive social change through the Horizon’s community program volunteering more than 35,000 hours of community support since securing an AFL license.”
