Recruiting guru Scott Clayton expects all five players taken by the SUNS in the 2016 National Draft to push for senior selection in round one next season.

Ben Ainsworth (pick No. 4), Jack Scrimshaw (7), Will Brodie (9), Jack Bowes (10) and Brad Scheer (67) all have the attributes required to be part of Rodney Eade’s best 22 against Brisbane on March 25, 2017.

“They’ll all be pushing very hard,” Clayton told SUNS TV on Friday night.

“As I said about most of them when we were talking individually, they are so ambitious and driven group they’ll certainly be trying hard.”

The five draftees have already formed strong bonds through their time in the NAB AFL Academy and all are determined to build something special on the gold Coast.

“I think there will be some great news in regards to extended contracts for all of them,” Clayton said.

“They’re all very, very keen and happy to come and they want to take on ownership of our football club.”
