In a similar vein to his side’s fortunes, experienced utility Jarrod Harbrow endured a frustrating season at Metricon Stadium, with injury interrupting his campaign at different intervals.

The 27-year-old managed 15 appearances across 2015, as shoulder, ankle and knee issues disrupted his season. Although, with so much experience and talent missing at different stages throughout the season, Harbrow’s presence was critical, as Rodney Eade desperately needed elder statesmen to lead the youth. And that is exactly what Harbrow provided.

The pick of the former Western Bulldog’s season was in round five’s QClash win over Brisbane in Carrara. Harbrow collected a season-high 26 possessions at an elite efficiency rate of 80.8 per cent. He provided plenty of run and drive against the Lions, combining with rebounding defenders Adam Saad and Kade Kolodjashnij to help cut the local rivals apart on transition.

In round 11, against the ladder leading Dockers, Harbrow was exceptional in the wet. On a day where the SUNS desperately sought leadership and direction against one of the premiership favourites, Harbrow stood up and led the way. He collected 23 possessions and six tackles in one of the finest performances of his year.

On another bright night for Gold Coast, against West Coast at Metricon Stadium in round 18, it was the experience of Harbrow that assisted Gold Coast against a star-studded Eagles midfield and forward group. The dashing utility collected 20 disposals at 80 per cent efficiency, to go with seven inside 50s in one of his most effective performances of the season.

Harbrow’s season was brought to an early finish due to a knee injury during the SUNS' visit to the MCG in round 20 to face Richmond. His injury-affected season somewhat mirroring Gold Coast’s unfortunate run of misfortune in the medical department this year.
