To recognise the significance of the occasion, the Gold Coast SUNS will wear a specially designed ANZAC commemorative guernsey on Saturday to mark the 100th anniversary of the ANZACs landing at Gallipoli.

The GC SUNS will don the guernsey in the Round 4 ANZAC Day match against the GWS Giants in Canberra.

GC SUNS Chief Executive, Andrew Travis, said the design of the guernsey respects this Saturday’s occasion.

“We are really pleased that the design of the jumper respects the significance of the 100th anniversary of the ANZACs landing at Gallipoli.

“The symmetry between the clubs established rising sun logo and the Australian Army rising sun was clearly evident to the design team.

“Having local members of the Army base to consult, on it being appropriate to closely align both themes allowed us to purse this design with greater meaning.

“This process has further increased the relationship with the Australian Army, which has seen players spend time at our local Canungra army base, completing a leadership program and the challenging obstacle course earlier in the year as well as the teams scheduled visit to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra on Friday,” Travis said.

The guernseys, designed in consultation with BLK, will be auctioned post game on goldcoastfc.com.au, with all profits going to the ANZAC Appeal.
