Speaking to SUNS TV following the NEAFL team’s 108-point win over Brisbane on Saturday, Head of Development Matthew Lappin went through some of the best players from the day.

Seb Tape (31 disposals)

He was hard as a cat’s head, Sebby. He really drove the standard around the contest in terms of attack on the ball and the opposition. He was terrific. 31-32 possessions and just made the opposition earn everything that they got when he was in the area so another really good midfield performance from Seb.

Luke Russell (35 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 goals)
His offense was terrific. His run and carry was really strong. We don’t have metres gained as a stat at NEAFL level but it was a really strong game where he ran, had a lot of bounces and kicked the ball well and he also hit the scoreboard. So he’s another one who’s put his name up for selection.

Peter Wright
(18 disposals, 11 marks, 5 inside 50s, 3 goals)

He spent probably 30 per cent in the ruck this week as well and took a lot of marks around the ground. The week before we thought Pete dropped a few marks that he really needed to take but I thought he rectified that this week. 11 marks and four or five shots on goal so it was a solid game from Pete. We expect him to post those numbers at that level because he’s a really good player at that level so he’s another one who’s keeping pressure on the players in the seniors.

Jack Leslie (15 disposals, 6 marks)
Jack was really strong. He’s making some really good defensive decisions and his positioning and he’s launching some counter-attacks off his ability to mark the ball as it comes inside 50 rather than spoiling it all the time so Jack played a really strong game.

Jarrad Grant (14 disposals, 9 marks, 7 goals)

He kicked seven goals. He was a real threat in the air and on the ground. Took a couple of really good contested marks and he just kept bobbing up in the right spots. He was really dangerous and he’s going to put his name up for senior selection with performances like that.

Dan Currie (15 disposals, 34 hitouts)
I think that was his best game for us, big Dan. He was really physical, set the scene in terms of our spirit and our contest along with Sebby Tape. He took some nice marks around the ground as well and found a bit more of the ball than he had been in previous week so another one who played really strong and was quite physical. Obviously he wanted a really good performance because the senior team’s playing the team he came from last year so he wanted to put some pressure on Tommy Nicholls and the selection at senior level.
