Daniel Gorringe declared his desire to remain a SUN, after the athletic tall produced a career performance against Port Adelaide in front of family and friends at AAMI Stadium over the weekend.

“My manager and Club are currently in talks and we’ll see how it goes from there,” he said.

“But I’m really happy on the Gold Coast and enjoying my time here so hopefully we’ll come to an agreement soon.”

It’s fantastic news for the Gold Coast SUNS busy list management team, with twelve players having already re-committed to the Club in 2013.

The mobile ruckman was superb against the Power on Saturday afternoon, finding plenty of the football as he went on to finish with 22 touches and six marks.

“It was probably my best game in the three years I’ve been at the Club,” Gorringe said.

While playing injury-free has helped Gorringe bounce back into form, a more professional attitude towards training and recovery has been of great importance for the 200cm Gold Coaster.

“The thing for me heading into this season was getting my body right so I could play as many games as possible,” he said.

“I worked pretty hard in the pre-season and continued that heading into the Premiership rounds and it’s great to be getting the rewards.”

Having led by nine-points at the third quarter-time huddle with just five players over the age of 25, Gorringe said it was a tremendous effort to see the team fight back the way they did.

“We had a slight lead heading into the fourth quarter and considering we were behind in the first and second terms it was a good sign from the boys to fight back,” Gorringe said.

“We ended up finishing three goals behind and it really shows were not far off from those teams in the top eight.”

“Hopefully we can keep the foot down on the petal and finish the season on a good note.”
