Gold Coast SUNS List & Strategy Manager, Scott Clayton, has responded to enquiries this afternoon in relation to Geelong’s Allen Christensen’s desire to continue his AFL career away from the Cats.

"Clearly the market was surprised at Allen's request.

“Out of respect to Geelong, we will wait for them to consider their options before we settle on a position or make further comment,” Clayton said on Wednesday.

The Geelong Cats, and Christensen’s management group have released the following statements.

Statement from Geelong Cats

Allen Christensen has expressed a desire to continue his career elsewhere due to non-football reasons.

The club is considering its position in relation to Allen's request.

Statement from Tim Hazell, Velocity Sports

In response to widespread media enquiries, and in line with a Geelong statement earlier today, I can confirm that Allen Christensen has told the club he wishes to continue his AFL career elsewhere.

It is decision taken purely for personal reasons. He simply feels that at 23 he wants a fresh start to his football elsewhere. We will work through this process with the club in the hope of securing an outcome satisfactory to both parties.

No further comment will be made at this time.
