Gold Coast will meet a well-rested Sydney outfit at Metricon Stadium this Sunday, with the Swans coming off a refreshing ten-day break.

The Swans played last Thursday night when they thumped the Geelong Cats – who were coming off back-to-back six-day breaks - , while the GC SUNS will play their fourth consecutive Sunday fixture.

Although at a scheduling disadvantage, Gold Coast head fitness coach, Max Kennedy, is backing the SUNS’ consistent training and recovery schedule.

“It’s just a quirk in the draw that they have a few days extra to recover but we just have to back our system, which we do,” Kennedy said.

“The boys have presented really well game day, so we are going to stick to what we know best and back our system.”

The SUNS are coming off a hard-fought contest from Sunday’s match against Adelaide and, not surprisingly, there were some sore bodies walking around Metricon Stadium at the start of the week.

“It was a pretty hostile environment on the weekend.

“So as you would expect they are pretty battered and bruised, particularly this time of year that starts to happen but they are okay.”

Kennedy is not underestimating the firepower of the Swans side but is assured his charges will be ready for whatever the red and whites throw at them.

“They are a very good side, there is no doubt about that, everywhere not just their midfielders.

“They have a lot of season campaigners playing for them, but as I say, broken record stuff, we have to back our blokes which we all do and just match them up and see how we go.

“We are super confident; we need to be with the way we have been playing, particularly on our home deck.”
