Clay Cameron is set to spend some time on the sidelines after sustaining a suspected shoulder injury late in Gold Coast’s round four match against Hawthorn on Saturday night.

The defender was immediately assessed by the club’s medical staff, where it was later diagnosed he had suffered damage to his AC joint.

Cameron will be sent for scans in the coming days to determine the full extent of the injury.

GC SUNS senior coach Guy McKenna confirmed Cameron’s injury in his post-match press conference.

“I think it’s a grade two AC joint, so he’s going to spend some time on the sidelines, but I’m not sure how long,” he said.

If the worst is confirmed, it would be a crushing blow for the 19-year-old backman, who has locked down a spot in the top 22 after making his debut against Richmond in round one.
