Ready to develop himself into a bona fide AFL defender, Sean Lemmens has been handed the No. 40 Guernsey.

With Andrew Boston upgrading to No. 13, Lemmens moves in as the new owner of the jumper at the GC SUNS.

The South Australian dynamo will be hoping the number 40 brings him as good fortune as it did for Boston, who notched eight AFL appearances in his maiden season last year including a career-best four goals against Greater Western Sydney in the side’s final Premiership match for 2013.

Excited at the opportunity to develop his game under triple premiership player and 2000 Norm Smith Medallist Shaun Hart, Lemmens told goldcoastfc.com.au he was looking forward to turning in a strong pre-season campaign.

“I know that there is plenty of hard work ahead of me but I am more than up for the challenge,” he said.

“My sole focus right now is getting in a strong pre-season, and then working closely with our development staff to improve areas on my game that will help me elevate myself to senior selection.

“It’s an exciting time for me.”
