Suffering the full physical and mental effects of their first trek to the top of Mt. Humphreys, seasoned campaigner Campbell Brown says recovery was in full flight at the team's Flagstaff base this morning.

"Recovery is the last thing we normally do but today it was brought forward," Brown said.

Scaling through extreme snowstorms, the playing group trekked 5,000ft to the highest natural point in Arizona, completing a series of puzzles and brain testers along the way.

Flagstaff first timers Jesse Lonergan and Leigh Osborne felt the pinch in their legs at the mid-way point, but with the help of Relentless team members Seb Tape, Gary Ablett and Aaron Hall, reached the saddle ahead of the other five teams.

Similar to the rest of his Gold Coast teammates, Brown says he woke up worse for wear on Friday morning.

"Most of the boys got pretty sore in their lower back, quads and calves from walking up and down the hills," he said.

"So we came back and jumped in the pool, which was just as good as an ice bath."

Brown revealed the team would be striving to complete the 2XU High Performance Camp strong, determined to return to the Gold Coast in peak conditioning ahead of what promises to be a defining fourth year in the AFL for the GC SUNS.

"It's been a pretty big couple of days but we still have another week to go and we still want to make sure their at a high quality and getting something out of it."

"... It's important the boys stay nice and loose around the hips so that we can finish the camp strong."
