A big part of Gold Coast’s 25-point victory over Geelong was the rebound from defence.

The two players who led the SUNS for intercept possessions and set up plenty of counterattacks were captain Steven May and Jarrod Harbrow, who were both named in the round seven Team of the Week by AFL.com.au.

May returned from a hamstring injury to lead the defence superbly, he not only kept Cats big man Tom Hawkins quiet, but also gathered 26 possessions and seven rebound 50s.

Harbrow has been in “career best” form this season according to senior coach Rodney Eade and he didn’t disappoint against the Cats.

The defender had 30 disposals – the first time he has reached the mark since round 14, 2013 – and provided plenty of dash from halfback.

This is the second time that Harbrow has been named in AFL.com.au’s Team of the Week in 2017.
