After three quiet quarters by his standards, GC SUNS captain Gary Ablett exploded in the last term against North Melbourne with three final quarter goals to lift his team to an outstanding 43-point victory. The skipper finished the game with 28 disposals, four goals and surely added to his Brownlow tally for season 2014.

The rest of the SUNS midfield brigade also shone brightly on Sunday afternoon. Dion Prestia had 28 touches and six clearances while Jaeger O’Meara had 26 disposals, eight clearances, six tackles and eight inside 50s.

David Swallow continued his outstanding start to 2014 with 20 possessions and nine tackles and Harley Bennell was superb in his return to AFL football with 23 disposals and two goals.

Tom Lynch was likened to Nick Riewoldt by coach Guy McKenna after he had 21 disposals, eight marks, two goals and three goal assists.

Kade Kolodjashnij put his hand up for a well overdue NAB AFL Rising Star nomination with 25 possessions and five rebound 50s while Jarrod Harbrow (27 disposals), Matt Shaw (20 disposals) and Brandon Matera (3 goals) all performed well for the SUNS.
