Gold Coast SUNS key forward Tom Lynch has been offered a one-match sanction following his hit on Greater Western Sydney’s Matthew Buntine in the third quarter of Saturday’s NAB Challenge clash in Blacktown.

The Match Review Panel has charged Lynch with rough conduct for a glancing head high bump on Buntine in a contest on the wing.

Lynch can accept a one-game sanction with an early guilty plea due to the fact he has an untarnished record. If the ban is accepted, Lynch will be unavailable for the opening game of the home and away season – not the remaining NAB Challenge fixture against the Brisbane Lions.

The MRP classified the incident as careless conduct with medium contact to the head. The offence initially draws a two-match suspension, but it can be reduced via an early guilty plea.

The Gold Coast SUNS have until 11am Tuesday to accept or contest the MRP’s decision.
