A third win in a row to start the season puts the Gold Coast SUNS in uncharted waters with standout performers right across the board.

Tom Lynch and Jack Martin again provided a devastating one-two punch in the forward 50, contributing seven goals between the two of them after nine the week prior against the Fremantle Dockers.

Lynch booted 4.3 to go with 23 disposals and 10 marks, six of which came inside the arc. Martin also finished with 10 marks, kicking three goals to really spark his side in the second half.

Speaking of devastating duos, the midfield tandem of Gary Ablett and Aaron Hall was again sublime against Carlton.

Hall had a career-high 40 disposals, seven inside 50s and a goal and broke the lines at every opportunity. An eye-catching passage of play through the midfield in the second quarter that resulted in a Lynch goal highlighted Hall’s emergence as a bona fide midfielder with his electric pace coming to the fore.

Ablett finished the game with 35 touches, nine clearances and a team-high eight tackles in another solid performance from the SUNS skipper.

Kade Kolodjashnij returned to his marshalling role across half back with 26 disposals at 84.6% efficiency to go with 12 marks while Nick Malceski looks more composed each week, compiling 24 disposals against the Blues.

Clay Cameron played what senior coach Rodney Eade labelled as his ‘best game for the club’, switching from forward to down back when Rory Thompson went down with injury.
