It comes as no surprise Gold Coast’s bookends Steven May and Tom Lynch have been named in AFL.com.au’s team of the week.

The co-captains were near flawless in round 20, providing leadership from each end of the ground as the SUNS pushed premiership contenders GWS for four quarters.

May, named at centre half-back, also polled a perfect 10 in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award for his performance, which Fox commentators described as spectacular.

Lynch has made a habit of appearing at centre half-forward in the Team of the Week, with many experts predicting he is headed for All-Australian selection.

His four goals put him level with Lance Franklin in second place in the Coleman Medal race. Lynch is also sitting second in the competition for goal assists, showing his impact up forward for the SUNS.
