FORMER Gold Coaster Maverick Weller has declared his interest to become a Saint.

The 21-year-old bullocking midfielder, who was delisted by the GC SUNS after playing 32 games in three seasons, has revealed his management group Velocity Sports has spoken to “half a dozen” clubs, but remained optimistic of relocating to Seaford.

"I had a really good chat with St Kilda with (list manager) Ameet Bains. That was quite a few weeks ago now, but I had a really good feeling there,” Weller told Melbourne radio station SEN this morning.

“My gut feeling (is) it'd be great to go there.”

"But I'm happy to go wherever. As long as the club wants me there, I'll give my 100 per cent."

Weller is hoping to find a new home during the Gillette AFL delisted player free agency period, which will run from November 1-13.

Taken as a 17-year-old access selection through the club’s inaugural draft intake, Weller showed plenty of promise on the Gold Coast, however form and injury issues conspired against the Tasmanian product.

However, Weller believes his best football is ahead of him, after picking up 27 touches against Greater Western Sydney in his final game for the club.

"This year wasn't that good of a year for me, but I feel like when I was playing I was a lot more confident in my ability, I saw the game a lot better, but I just couldn’t get out on the park," he said.

"I played a really good game (in) my last game for the club against GWS (in round 23), probably my best game for the club."

He described himself as "a grunt player" with leadership skills.
