While it’s an extreme long shot that a Gold Coast SUN will take home the game’s highest individual honour in 2016, it’s always an interesting exercise to analyse the club’s best chances at this year’s Brownlow Medal count.

Key forward Tom Lynch is rated a $126 chance with UBET with the SUNS spearhead having an outstanding season to sit equal-second in the Coleman Medal race with 61 goals to his name.

However history suggests the Brownlow is a midfielder’s medal, with no forward having saluted on the podium since James Hird in 1996.

AFL.com.au predicts Lynch will poll in eight games in 2016, receiving maximum votes in round two against Fremantle and round three against Carlton.

Jack Martin
is rated the SUNS’ next best chance with five projected votes including a best-on-ground performance against Brisbane in round 16.

According to the AFL Brownlow Medal predictor, Adelaide’s Rory Sloane, Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield and Swan Luke Parker are currently tied at the top with 23 votes each ahead of Richmond’s Dustin Martin on 22.

Who’s leading the SUNS count for the 2016 Brownlow Medal?
