Gold Coast SUNS vice-captain Touk Miller has capped off an incredible individual season by claiming his maiden Club Champion award.

Miller, who earlier in the night also took out the Players’ Player award, was announced as the 2021 winner at Gold Coast’s Club Champion event at The Star on Sunday night.

The SUNS vice-captain took the lead from Round 4 and ended the night on 562 votes, well clear of runner-up Wil Powell (396) and third-placed David Swallow (352).

It was a career-best year for the 25-year-old who finished the regular season ranked second in the league for total tackles and fifth for average disposals with 31.8 per game.

His outstanding form was rewarded with a top-five finish in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player award and a first Therabody All-Australian selection.

Miller had nine of the 10 best Club Champion-polling performances of all SUNS players this year.

He was also the only player to poll in every match he played, highlighting his consistency this season.

The voting process for the Club Champion involved Stuart Dew and three assistant coaches awarding each player a maximum of 10 votes after each match, for a maximum of 40 votes for any match.
