Jade Pregelj is the winner of the Emerging Player of the QW Winter Series award.

It’s been an extraordinary turn of events for Pregelj who eight years ago was crowned as a back-to-back medallist of the now-defunct Brisbane Women’s League’s best and fairest award.

Pregelj was a gifted footballer who represented Queensland and played for her local club Logan before taking time away from the game.

She enlisted in the Army, and it wasn’t until she was convinced to join the Army’s football team years later that she rediscovered her love for the sport.

Pregelj attended the SUNS’ AFLW Talent ID day up in Townsville last year and was selected to play for Gold Coast in the QW Winter Series this year.

Playing off half-back Pregelj looked in fine form and had some standout moments in the three matches where she either went back with the flight or crunched into a pack to take a mark.

2019 has been her re-emergence to football and Pregelj is a worthy winner of the Emerging Player of the QW Winter Series.
