The Gold Coast SUNS Football Club wish to pass on its condolences to the Gunston family after the sudden passing of Ray Gunston earlier today.

In his time working in various different roles at the AFL, Ray played an integral role in the formation and establishment of the Gold Coast SUNS and we will be forever indebted for the commitment and effort he showed in vital stages of our formative years.

Chief Executive Mark Evans passed on his heartfelt condolences on behalf of everyone at the SUNS.

“We’re deeply saddened and shocked to learn of the sudden passing of Ray Gunston,” Evans said.

“We are indebted to Ray for his contribution to the SUNS and his extensive role in guiding and assisting the AFL industry.

“I’ve worked closely with Ray for many years. He built a wonderful reputation in our industry based on his integrity, intellect and work ethic.

“But more importantly, he was a great family man - a devoted husband, and a very proud father and devoted husband. To Mandy, Jack, Kate and the Gunston family, we offer our deepest condolences.”

Vale Ray Gunston.
