Key forward duo Chris Burgess and Levi Casboult have both signed a contract extension with the Gold Coast SUNS.

Burgess, 26, has recommitted to the SUNS for a further two years while Casboult, 32, has signed a one-year extension to remain at the club.

Claiming the Frosty Miller medal as the leading VFL goalscorer, Burgess also earned VFL Team of the Year honours, kicking 63 goals from 20 matches including finals.

GC SUNS General Manager of Player Talent & Strategy Craig Cameron said the club was pleased to be able to maintain the strength of its key position stocks.

“Both Chris and Levi have been important to the success of our club and are key re-signings as we aim to maintain our depth of tall forwards,” Cameron said.

“Chris was impressive at VFL level and earned a call-up to the AFL team on multiple occasions. He loves the club and we’re pleased to be able to extend him.

“Levi has been a valued acquisition for our club and played an extremely important role for us this season, so we are excited to see his career continue with the SUNS.”

Casboult played 21 games in a career-best season for the SUNS, booting 35 goals.
