The Gold Coast SUNS have informed defender Oleg Markov his contract would not be renewed for 2023.

Markov departs the club with 51 career games to his name, including 28 played with the SUNS in his two seasons on the Gold Coast.

He joined the SUNS in 2021 after a five-year career at Richmond where he played 23 AFL games and featured in the 2019 VFL premiership.

In his two seasons at Gold Coast, Markov has played a role in defence where he was able to impact with his running ability.

GC SUNS General Manager of Player Talent and Strategy Craig Cameron wished Markov the best in his future endeavours.

“Oleg has made a positive impact on the Gold Coast SUNS and we are appreciative of everything he has given the club,” Cameron said.

“We’d like to take the opportunity to thank Oleg for his two years of service and wish him well for his next opportunity.”
