Charlie Rowbottom and Lauren Bella’s superb AFLW campaigns have been rewarded with selection in the AFL Players’ Association AFLW 22Under22 44-player squad.

It’s the second time both players have been named in the extended squad with the pair also looking to earn a second selection in the final 22-player team.

Rowbottom, who was crowned as the SUNS Club Champion on Saturday, was the seventh-most popular selection in the Season Six team and is sure to be among the leaders once again in the fan-voted team.

The 19-year-old is yet to miss a match since her debut last season and played all 10 matches for the SUNS this season, leading the club for disposals (22.5 per game), clearances (6.2 per game), tackles (6.9 per game) whilst also finishing fifth in the league for contested possessions (13.7 per game).

She has also been selected in the 42-player AFLW All-Australian squad alongside key defender Vivien Saad.

Bella once again affirmed her position as one of the AFLW’s top rucks. Previously selected in the 22Under22 team in 2020, the 22-year-old finished fifth in the SUNS Club Champion vote after a strong Season Seven in which she finished fifth in the league for hitouts (22.3 per game).

Eligible players must have played five games throughout Season Seven with players rewarded for their consistency across the whole season.

Voting is open here until November 16 with the final team to be announced on November 22.
