Just seven days remain until the inaugural SUNS Twilight Run, hosted at Metricon Stadium.

The event, designed to be an inclusive opportunity for the entire Gold Coast community to strap on the shoes, get active and have the chance to take to the turf at Metricon Stadium, is set to take over the entire stadium precinct next Saturday.

Featuring not only three running events over various distances – 2.5km kid’s dash, 5km and 10km – the event also includes two Stadium Yoga sessions at 3pm and 7.30pm with the precinct to come alive with live music, food trucks, giveaways and more.

SUNS AFLW players Jasmyn Smith and Lucy Single are two of several representatives who will be hitting the course at their home ground and says she’s looking forward to seeing the community come out in force.

“I’m super excited to participate in the SUNS Run,” Smith said.

GC SUNS Twilight Run: Event Guide

“It’s such a great community event to bring everyone together here at Metricon Stadium. You can run with your favourite SUNS players, there are three great events on the day and everyone is encouraged to get involved, regardless of fitness ability.

“It’s a run as part of my off-season program. I know that plenty of our players are running across all three events.”

Single said, “Having the chance to run with the community in this event is important to me.

“I’m excited to run with a few teammates and it’s a perfect way to get some of our off-season running done.”

Registrations are still open and will remain so right up to the event, with free merchandise included for the next 100 registrations.

“We’ve had a great response since launching the event back at November. We’ve had about 1400 registrations The first 1500 get a free SUNS Run cap with their entry, so there are still 100 available for the next to register,” Sport 3 Event Management representative Adam Goodger said.

“It’s the best facility we have on the Gold Coast and it’s a great chance to showcase that to the community and to get the community involved with the club.

“We’ve got kids activities, live music throughout the evening and the bar and food trucks will be open.

“There’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy throughout the whole event.”
