The Gold Coast SUNS has broken its all-time membership record for the fourth consecutive year, surpassing 23,000 members for the first time in club history.

The outstanding result comes after the SUNS recorded 21,422 members last year in 2022.

Gold Coast SUNS Chief Executive Mark Evans said the continual growth of the club’s membership base was an indicator of the investment the SUNS continue to make to grow the game in Queensland.

“To each and every one of our 23,000 members who have signed on so far this year, we say a huge thank you for your support,” Evans said.

“Participation numbers in Queensland are the highest they’ve ever been, to the point where we have now overtaken South Australia for overall participation for the first time, which is a tremendous achievement for the game in Queensland.

“Our members continue to lead the way on the Gold Coast with their passion and care for our football club shining through.

“We have more work to do and ground to make up on the rest of the competition but are confident our strong growth numbers will see the SUNS continue to rise in the years to come.”

The Gold Coast SUNS will be celebrating the contributions of its members this weekend at the match against Carlton at Heritage Bank Stadium which has been themed “Thank You” Round.

To mark the celebration, the club has announced a Member Team of the Year and will have a wide variety of giveaways and upgrades for members at the match.

Memberships are still available for the AFLW season, with the membership window closing for all AFL Clubs on 31 August and an official 2023 membership number to be lodged after this date.
